This book is in good condition with some soiling and rubbing of the covers, the pages are clean and tight, I did not see any writing on the pages. Contest includes: He had bathed in the river bottom, and taken the pony’s saddle off and let the little animal roll. He’d rubbed his buckskin with fern weed and rinsed the out, and he was as clean as he’d ever be, and still wet; it felt good, on this first day of july just to let the water steam of him and the clean pony. Not that it was hot, jet; just right. Too early in the days for real heat. Now that he’d crossed the Missouri, he was out of hostile country, and tough a man who liked to live never really let down, it was a load off Ned Springer’s shoulders. He’d been in horse-Indian country too long: Sioux, Arap’, Comanche, Apache. But this side of the river he was where eve a simple Oto or Kaw could walk around without faring anything worse than stumbling in a gopher hole. Ned Spring rode a little straighter in his rawhide saddle, but he still balanced the long rifle on the pommel. Yonder, a little smoke would be the Council Bluffs, where the Mormons had built their town of Kanesville. Not much smoke mow, but at noon it would all be going up at once, and much, much more. This book does not have illustrations. Thanks for Looking.
